    National Child Abuse Study
 

The National Study on Child Abuse conducted by Prayas Institute of Juvenile Justice in the year 2005-06 across 13 states of India including Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Mizoram, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Maharashtra and Goa with 12,447 child respondents from different socio-economic strata and nearly 2342 young adults and 2349 adult in both rural and urban areas.

The report of this largest empirical study on child abuse ‘Study on Child Abuse, INDIA 2007’ complementing the UN General Secretary Generals Global Study on Violence against Children 2006 was released on 9 April 2007 has revealed disturbing statistics on child abuse breaking myths of the prevailing protective environment at home and community.
