Jan Shikshan Sansthan Prayas

Name: Jan Shikshan Sansthan Prayas

State: Delhi

Areas covered: Seventeen areas of Delhi

Working with: Marginalized youth and women from weaker communities

Issues covered: The speed of a nation’s development is directly related to the quantity and quality of vocational skills possessed by its workforce. The wider the range and higher the quality of vocational skills, the faster the growth and more prosperous the society. As per one of the study conducted it was estimated that there is a need of around 15 million people for job opportunities in various sectors. But due to the lack of any vocational skills there are only around 4 million people in the market. The gap is wide and it needs to be covered. The statistics itself signifies that there is no verge of job opportunity in the market e but the youth lack at employable skills. The very low level of employable skills makes the search for work much more difficult. It reduces the market value of the job seeker and adds to the costs of employers that must train new recruits from scratch.

Objective: The focus is to improve the occupational skills and technical knowledge of the neo-literates and the trainees and to raise their efficiency and increase productive ability. To serve as nodal continuing education centres. In Addition to it JSSP organizes training and orientation courses for Key Resource Persons, Master Trainers. It also conducts equivalency programmes through Open Learning System. The basic aim is to promote national goals such as secularism, national integration, population and development, women’s equality, protection and conservation of environment.

Besides savings and micro credit activities, these groups serve as a forum for the poor woman by Voicing their views, interacting with one another, sharing their experience, exchanging their ideas on various issues, initiating collective action on wide range of social personal and economic issues.
