On the occasion of Rakshabandhan, Prayas on the direction received from Prez House sent 3 of their Shelter Home children to celeberate the Occasion with President Smt.Pratibha Patil.The awestruck children were left wondering about how one person could stay in such a Big Palace-all alone and how she could maintain such a beautiful Garder (referring to the Moghul Garden

Brief Profile of the Children

Meena ( 13 yrs ) : Child Labour Case: A small bundle of Talent with big vision.Wants to become an IPS Officer who came to Prayas where she was refered by Butterfly Childline.She’s good in Dancing and equally good in studies too,enrolled in class-III in Govt.School.She was placed with a family as a domestic servant but was ill treated.She was not given food,was regularly beaten and illtreated.Luckily for her she was rescued by Butterfly Childline and sent to Prayas where she has found a new freedom and is motivated to dream big.

Lalita ( 13 yrs ) : Child Abuse Case:- Like Meena, Lalita too came to Prayas in March 2006 after being refered to Prayas by the Police.She has a history of abuse when she was just 6 year old and case is pending in Patiala High Court.She is keen to take care of her brothers and is taking a keen interest in studies to make life comfortable for them.And this is her lone ambition in life….a perfect Rakshabandhan Gift for her brothers.

Mohammed Asif ( 14 yrs ) :- Juvenile Case:- Asif was just 6 yr old when he was lost and landed up in Calcutta Child Care Home where he spent 2 yrs after which he was transferred to Lucknow where he spent another 4 yrs.While in Lucknow Special Grah where he was housed for 5 – 6 months, he along with some other inmates broke out of the home but was latter brought back again.At Prayas he has now adapted to Cutting and Tailoring trade and is now keenly learning the art.He has ambitions to become a Top Designer.
