Major issues covered- Trafficking in youth and women is seen as a major social problem and is in increasing trend. Since economic factors dominate the cause of trafficking to a great extent, economic rehabilitation of trafficked victims assumes prime importance.
Objective- To provide economic rehabilitation to vulnerable children who are in need of care and protection. To promote entrepreneurship development through vocational training. Shaping and upholding the dignity and self-respect of the survivor of the violence of trafficking and victims of other exploitation. Ensuring livelihood alternatives through micro enterprise that would provide not only financial independence and security to these children and women but also more importantly, an identity in the society.
About the Project- Prayas in collaboration with International Organization for Migration (IOM), Hyderabad has opened seven sales outlets named as “Sanchay Prayas” of various products produced by beneficiaries of vocational training program and by women of Self Help Groups. Amul and Coke have also lent support by providing infrastructure, machineries and training input to beneficiaries. In these outlets beneficiaries placed are children residing in shelter homes of Jahangirpuri and Tughlakabad. In this process 20 beneficiaries have been placed and are earning their livelihood.
